If you are on a health and care visa and do 20+ hours of additional work for another employer, outside of your sponsored job, you have to apply to update your visa. We urge the Government to remove this requirement. It could help with critical staffing shortages and rising living costs.
1.Addressing Staffing Shortages: The healthcare sector faces a severe shortage of workers, especially in community roles. We think allowing care workers to exceed the 20-hour cap without needing to apply to update their visa would help meet urgent staffing needs. 2.Financial Stability: With the cost of living rising, care workers on limited hours can struggle to support their families. Removing the cap would allow them to earn more.
