Some schools fail to acknowledge the preferred names and pronouns of trans pupils, which can lead to misgendering, distress, and a lack of acceptance in the educational environment.
Requiring schools to respect students' chosen names and pronouns can affirm their identity and promote a supportive atmosphere. We believe this policy would improve mental health outcomes, enhance academic performance, and reduce instances of bullying. Educators play a vital role in modelling respect and inclusivity, which benefits the entire student body.
