Milestones

We believe there is an alarming shortfall in adult social care funding, which could lead to care packages being reduced and people denied the extra care that they require. We think that immediate additional funding is required to plug this gap.

There is already a significant unmet need for social care. Nuffield Trust estimated that fewer than half of older people with care needs were receiving support. The number of people over 80 is predicted to increase by more than 40% over the next 15 years. We are also seeing a rise in adult disability and mental health issues. We believe that if the adult care sector isn't given adequate funding now it will reach a crisis point, with no chance of it being able to meet the higher need in the future.
