Milestones—
In 2006 the Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown announced Veterans Day, in 2009 it was renamed to Armed Forces Day and it is held annually on the last Saturday in June. I am asking the Government to fund celebrations of Uniformed Services in the month running up to Armed Forces Day.
I feel there is not enough appreciation of our Uniformed Services who very often have to carry out their roles in very difficult circumstances but still do so to the very best of their ability. As the Government funds these services they can make these celebrations successful. I wish to expand on the work of previous Governments to show appreciation and thanks to all who serve in any of our Uniformed Services.
