We think that imposing a tax on all gifts received by MPs would reinforce the notion that they are not above the law and that they must adhere to the same financial responsibilities as the general public.
Members of Parliament (MPs) hold a position of significant public trust and responsibility, representing the interests of their constituents. As such, I feel that the principle of accountability and transparency is paramount in their dealings, including the acceptance of gifts.
