I want the statutory two weeks of paternity leave to be extended by two weeks, to four weeks.
We think this increase will aid many people, including self- employed workers, people employed in male dominated workplaces (we think these workplaces are incredibly behind the times and not particularly supportive of men taking longer than their two week entitlement) etc. Some firms have recently increased their paid paternity leave policy to 12 weeks, which is a marked increase, but we think all fathers should be able to benefit from more time away from work when their baby is born.
