Milestones—
Around menopause a number of 'silent' changes occur that women may not be aware of but can increase their risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes & dementia, including changes in blood pressure, cholesterol & triglycerides. A health check at the time of menopause could improve long-term health
Women may have a longer lifespan than men but our healthspan is not as good, with 25% more time spent in ill health. Many of the changes that increase the risk of these diseases occur without being noticed around menopause. I would like the Government to fund a checkup which tests for risk factors at this time. They should also advise on lifestyle or medications that could help reduce those risks & keep women healthy for longer.
