We call on the Government to exempt Commonwealth soldiers in the British army from the Life in the UK test when applying for citizenship after 6 years and more continuous service.
We believe that due to the struggles, mental health and stress commonwealth soldiers go through in serving they find it hard sometimes to sit and pass the Life in UK test; and this has caused so many problems in the life of the serving soldiers. We have suggested inserting the reference to applying for citizenship because Commonwealth members of HM Forces are exempt from the test when applying for indefinite leave to remain.
