Milestones

We believe the law needs to be changed so that if the authorities (police and other bodies) know that a person is in a relationship with someone who has been imprisoned for sexual or other serious violence and is a known dangerous offender, then this is disclosed to the person automatically.

At the minute we have Clare’s law that that allows you to do a background check on your partners previous history with domestic violence. We think the law should be changed so that information is automatically shared by agencies/ police should you be in a relationship with someone who has a history of serious violence or sexual violence, and the agencies/police are aware of this relationship. We believe disclosing this automatically without having to go through Clare’s law would help protect victims in the future.
