We call on the government to implement a national unlimited monthly subscription card for train travel. We think this would reduce car dependency, alleviate traffic congestion, and make rail travel more affordable for everyone, especially those on lower incomes, in line with climate goals.

We think we are facing a climate crisis, and reducing car use is essential to lowering emissions and achieving sustainability goals. We feel train fares are prohibitively expensive for many, preventing people from choosing greener transport options. We think introducing an affordable monthly subscription card could make train travel accessible for all, reduce congestion, and help the UK become a global leader in climate action and help set an example to the rest of the world’s nations.
