Milestones—
I would like the Government to declare a special Bank Holiday in 2025 to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and Victory over Japan (VJ) Day, marking the end of World War II in Europe and the Pacific.
I believe that the 80th anniversaries provide a unique opportunity to honour the sacrifices and resilience of those who lived, fought, and contributed to the war effort during World War II. Many veterans and civilians who experienced the war are now in their late 90s or older, making this potentially one of the last major milestones where we can celebrate their shared sacrifice during WW2. I believe that we as a country owe them this.
