The public funds for memorials to former Monarchs should be limited to £1-3 million and the rest allocated to what we think are far more benevolent and practical issues.
We believe that the allocated budget is wasteful given the people who are facing high costs of living; having to use food banks; “heat or eat” choices; low wages and high rents; as well as the levels of child poverty and homelessness. We think that any additional requirements must be met by private donations and/or from the royal family themselves.
