Milestones

The Government should introduce mandatory registration and welfare checks for home-educated children. Local authorities must assess their education and safety regularly. I believe these steps will help prevent abuse and neglect while supporting parents who choose to educate their children at home.

Without mandatory registration and monitoring, I believe that vulnerable children can slip through the cracks, suffering abuse and neglect. I believe mandatory regular checks would ensure children’s safety, guarantee access to adequate education, and provide accountability for parents. I believe these measures could protect children and ensure they are not deprived of their right to education and safety. I think the government must act to prevent further tragedies.
