I would like this government to make the harassment of runners and joggers a new specific type of offence (like assaulting shop workers).
Nobody should be made to feel threatened or intimidated when exercising in public. This unacceptable behavior has caused people to withdraw from exercise, because it creates a hostile atmosphere of paranoia and anxiety. A new specific offence should be created, as part of this new government’s plan to tackle violence against women and girls, as this group is more disproportionately affected by this form of harassment. Anything causing fear, intimidation or a threat of violence should be a crime.
