I call on the UK Government to take urgent action to protect public health by introducing stronger regulations on alcohol advertising.
Alcohol misuse is associated with many long-term health risks. The NHS and other health organizations consistently advise against excessive alcohol consumption, highlighting its risks in relation to a wide range of health problems, from liver disease to mental health issues. It can also have a negative impact on families and communities. Despite these warnings, we feel alcohol advertising remains pervasive. We think alcohol marketing continues to glamorize drinking, particularly targeting younger audiences. We believe that alcohol advertising should be regulated similarly to tobacco.
