I think that the Government allows claims of leave to remain because of DV too easily. People can apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) because of a relationship breakdown due to domestic violence or abuse, if their partner was a British citizen or settled in the UK.

We are concerned that people could be making false allegations of violence or abuse to seek ILR. This can have a very negative impact those against whom the allegations are made.
