Abolish the FPTP system and replace it with the AV system. We think this would allow voters to rank their choices so their votes are not wasted. While there was a referendum in 2011, we think much has changed since. We think the current system only serves the Labour and Conservative parties.

We think FPTP encourages voters to vote against their least favourite party rather than allowing them to express their honest opinion. We feel it encourages societal division and polarization and results in a two-party system. We think the AV system allows voters to express their values without wasting their vote, discourages divisive behaviour from candidates and unlike proportional representation, maintains the direct relationship between an MP and the local constituency.
