After over a decade of conflict, we believe the fall of the Assad regime has brought new hope for Syria. The Syrian people need the world’s support to heal and recover— we consider that lifting sanctions is a critical first step toward a brighter future.

While we think the United Kingdom’s sanctions against the previous regime were necessary and principled, the landscape in Syria has changed significantly. We believe these sanctions now risk exacerbating the hardships faced by ordinary Syrian citizens who are working to rebuild their lives and their country. The Syrian people have suffered enough. It’s time to support their journey to recovery and rebuild their nation.
