I want the government to reform the system of providing wheelchairs on the NHS. I want them to ensure that everyone who needs a wheelchair is provided one for free, in a timely manner, that is tailored to their individual needs, regardless of their income or location.
I think the current system is broken, leaving many people who need wheelchairs without them, impeding their ability to do daily tasks, leave their house or work. If the government wants to get disabled people back into work, I think this starts with giving us our independence and mobility back, allowing us the freedom to travel without having to spend large amounts of money on wheelchairs. Some people are left in debt, struggling to afford an essential medical device.
