I urge the Department of Education/UK Government to end the mandate for GCSE resits for students aged 16-18.
We feel that this system burdens our young people. Over the past few years, there has been increases in students resitting their English and Maths exams, we feel this is indicative of an outdated education system. If the DfE continues mandating resits, we fear that the mental health issues these students face will be severe. Education should prepare students, not crush their spirits and dampen their aspirations.
