Milestones

Require social media companies to implement independent quality and fact-checking requirements for content shared on social media platforms in the UK. We think this will help ensure the public is protected from misinformation and manipulation, regardless of external influences or corporate agendas.

We believe it's required as some companies, who we think are influenced by US political agendas, have lifted fact-checking measures. We think this allows misinformation to spread unchecked, risking undermining public discourse, easily influencing some individuals, and destabilising UK society. We think UK democratic values should not be subject to the interests of foreign political actors or corporate profits and that independent fact-checking helps accountability, truth, and public trust.
