I feel that a lot of the sports chosen for GCSE PE are not available in more deprived areas, limiting the options for working class children to consider taking a GCSE in sport.
I think that activities like weight-lifting and martial arts are much more accessible and many children partake in them from all backgrounds. I couldn’t believe the limitations of what students are allowed to chose. Why is it that a student can partake at competition level for certain sports, such as weightlifting, but can't do the activity for GCSE? I feel it's unfair that expensive, "for the masses" sports are on the list, but other, more accessible sports aren't.
