Change the law so that 17 year olds can purchase alcohol in a pub under supervision of the landlord/lady. I believe this could prevent unsafe underage drinking and boost our pubs, which I think are in decline.
At 17, young people are able to do many things legally e.g. drive and have children but they cannot buy alcohol to drink in a pub legally. I find this absurd. and I think it may lead 17 year olds to find alternatives ways to drink which may put them at risk or isolate them from friends in the same year, who are 18. I also believe it does not take factors such as emotional maturity to account.
