We would like the Government to make the act of "Stolen Valour" a Criminal Offence. Stolen valour involves falsely claiming military service, rank or medallic recognition. We would like the offence to include the wearing of uniform and/or medals not awarded to the individual.
We believe that current legislation is not effective enough and there have been several recent cases. It is a huge insult to those who have fought for our country, those injured and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives. Currently, only a few European countries adopt the same position as the UK as evidenced in the House of Commons Library research briefing ""Stolen Valour": An international comparison", dated 9th July 2024.
