Milestones

1. Introduce strict regulations on the sale of sodium nitrite to prevent misuse. 2. Work with online retailers to restrict access to highly concentrated forms. 3. Fund Improved NHS mental health crisis responses, ensuring safeguarding measures when individuals disclose access to lethal substances.

Sodium nitrite is a highly toxic substance that is easily purchased online. It can be used for suicide. Despite its known dangers, it remains widely available with minimal regulation. We want action to prevent further avoidable deaths. We think the government should introduce legislation restricting the sale of sodium nitrite. NHS mental health services should be funded to implement stricter safeguarding policies, ensuring immediate action when individuals disclose access to lethal substances.
