Milestones—
The Government should review the issuing of driving licenses and introduce a legal requirement for all learner drivers to complete a minimum number of professional driving lesson hours before being allowed to take the practical driving test.
I believe this could help ensure that all new drivers gain sufficient experience and skills under the supervision of a qualified instructor, helping improve road safety and potentially reducing accidents caused by inexperienced drivers. Additionally, I believe this requirement could help decrease the current backlog and reduce driving test waiting times by ensuring that only well-prepared candidates book tests, leading to fewer failed attempts and a more efficient testing system.
