I ask that the law be changed to ensure that abusive ex-spouses are banned from receiving any rights to financial assets in financial settlements in divorce, especially when there is clear evidence of repeated abuse.
We want to ensure abusers cannot claim financial rights to assets, savings, or pensions in divorce after abuse has been reported and proven. By removing the financial obligation that can sometimes be placed on survivors, we think the law would better reflect the true impact of domestic violence on victims’ lives and well-being.
