Update the NSL sign to provide an indicator as to whether the road is a single or dual carriageway. The sign could be updated, for example, to include either the word 'single' or 'dual' to give further information to the driver
It is my experience, both personally and on speaking with other people, that the distinction between what constitutes a single or dual carriageway is not always clear. This may result in drivers unwittingly exceeding the speed limit which may lead to fines, injury or loss of life. Many other countries outside the UK have signs specifically indicating whether the road is a single or dual carriageway. I believe this will be beneficial to both UK and overseas drivers using UK roads.
