We urge the UK Government to implement stricter rules to prevent potentially unnecessary child removal. We believe social services should give greater priority to family support, ensure greater transparency, and require clearer evidence before separating children from parents.
We believe the current system can allow for children to be removed without sufficient evidence, which could lead to unjust family separations and trauma for children. We urge Parliament to reform the law so that social services give more priority to family support, operate more transparently, and are subject to greater oversight.
