Increase the on the spot fine from £50 to £1000 for any motor vehicle being used on a public highway with an illegally loud & modified exhaust system. To seize and destroy the vehicles of repeat offenders.

We think there is a current trend amongst a small but significant proportion of road users to fit excessively loud, anti-social & illegally modified exhaust pipes onto their vehicles. We think the present penalties aren't working effectively at curbing the problem and need to be increased to discourage users from breaking the existing legislation. We think these modified exhaust pipes also encourage speeding and dangerous driving due to the driver often trying to create a 'desirable noise' under hard acceleration.
