We urge the UK Government to require tech companies to offer parental controls for all users under 17, based on agreed standards. These controls should, at a minimum, manage screen time, app use, and content access.
Some tech companies allow children to disable parental controls at 13, and no regulations set clear standards for tech companies. I believe unrestricted digital access can negatively affect mental health, development, and learning. I believe standardised, reliable parental controls would help protect children, support parents, and foster healthier digital habits into adulthood.
