Dependents' visa extensions are issued in fixed periods, even when the applicant is close to obtaining ILR. This forces many families to pay extra money for the Immigration Health Surcharge for dependents.
We urge the government to change the current fixed extension period for dependent visas to a flexible system. Many families are forced to pay extremely high IHS fees upfront, especially when they only need a short extension before applying for ILR. We call for a flexible dependent visa extension period instead of the current fixed period.
