I want the Government to require all local authorities to make sure all taxi ranks have a raised area to allow wheelchair users and those with limited mobility to have easier and safer access to taxis.
Many wheelchairs users might be refused taxis due to access issues, such as the taxi ramp is too steep, or the driver has an exemption to allow them to refuse to push the wheelchair user up a ramp. Other drivers might refuse to take wheelchair users due to the time it takes to load and secure the user safely in their taxi. By installing raised taxi ramps, we think this issue would largely be solved & more wheelchair users would be able to access public transport
