The Crime and Policing Bill, includes a specific new offence of assaulting retail workers. Given the increasing levels of abuse, verbal and physical, towards road workers and we think they should be added to the legislation.

No one should go to work and suffer abuse by doing their job, 1 in 4 road workers suffer abuse regularly, and we think this could be higher as it goes unreported as they believe nothing can or will be done. We think this is not acceptable and there needs to be consequences this occurs, we need to ensure that there is also more awareness around this.
