Milestones—
We think the government should close loopholes with robust legislation, making it a requirement that unlimited companies file accounts. Unlimited companies may be setup by non-UK residents & used for political donations, which we believe could harm democracy.
Unlimited companies are not required to publish accounts/financial reports, but can make donations of any amount to a party. UK law on political donations does not differentiate between limited & unlimited companies, stating only that firms must be “a UK-registered company incorporated in the UK which carries on business in the UK” to make political donations.
