Milestones

Charging orders in England and Wales remain on property indefinitely and we feel it can leave households vulnerable.

We feel that policies in Scotland on this matter are fairer as charging orders on private properties are automatically removed after 12 years. We believe this law can shield homeowners from companies that claim assets. We think current policy in the UK could disproportionately affect those who have suffered from a reduction in their earnings.
