Milestones

We think the Government should require local authorities to prioritise housing, provide a personal advisor and provide therapeutic funding for adults who are estranged from their biological or adoptive parents due to abuse or neglect, up to the age of 25.

In our view, estranged adults may have been failed by the system. There is no statutory obligation to support estranged adults as care leavers are supported. We think this may detrimentally impact young people. We think young people who are estranged should be supported and given support with housing, mental health , personal advisor and relationships.
