We think that if a person creates a pornographic deep fake it should be classified as sexual assault, as AI use is rising and the use of deep fakes to depict women and girls performing sexual acts is on the rise.

We think sexual deep fakes should be classed as sexual assault because they violate a person's consent, autonomy, and dignity. In our view, victims experience real trauma, humiliation, and emotional harm, similar to physical sexual abuse. We think the intent is to sexually exploit or degrade without permission, weaponizing someone's body and identity. Even without physical contact, we think the psychological damage mirrors traditional forms of sexual violence and deserves equal legal recognition and protection.
