We urge the Government to create a law which mandates that if no qualified UK workers are available, companies must provide proof if they want to hire from abroad. Additionally, we call the Government to tax companies who recruit overseas and use the revenue to support retraining affected workers.

We are concerned that some UK companies may be hiring offshore to cut costs, leaving many skilled British workers redundant or struggling for jobs. We believe relying on cheaper offshore labour depresses wages and side-lines local talent. We believe that ensuring priority for domestic recruitment and taxing offshore hiring when unavoidable can protect our workforce, restore fair competition, and support a robust UK economy.
