We urge the Government to reform the marriage allowance to allow married couples and civil partners to transfer their entire personal tax-free allowance to their partners. We feel the current 10% limit doesn’t reflect real family life and full sharing could recognise marriage as a true partnership.

Many married couples share life, home, bills, and responsibilities, yet can only transfer 10% of their tax-free allowance. Many families live and work as one team. We believe marriage is about partnership, but we feel the tax system still treats them separately. We believe allowing full sharing would reflect real family life and fairness.
