We urge the Government to investigate safeguarding and social care referral practices for SEND children to prevent any possible misuse of safeguarding, ensure duties under Section 47 of the Children Act 1989 are upheld, and ensure schools adopt trauma-informed practices before safeguarding actions.
We believe the Government must investigate what we think are the misuse of safeguarding & social care referrals for SEND children. We believe families supporting vulnerable young people deserve compassion, protection, & appropriate services — not suspicion, blame or gaslighting when systems in place do not meet their legal duties.
