Milestones

We want a further review of sentencing, looking at the impact on policing and public safety, and holding extensive consultation with the victims of crime. We think the impact on their mental health has not been addressed.

We think: 1. Rather than tackling prevention, prisoners are being released before they serve their full sentence. 2. Prison life needs to be more of a deterrent. 2. Insufficient consideration has been given to the impact on victims of crime. 3. Early release is not the answer, it is a get out of jail free card. 4. Reduced crowding should be addressed by building prisons, using vacant buildings, and more deportations of foreign criminals. 5. We cannot pander to those already convicted and sentenced.
