There have been reports of the licence fee being linked to council tax, following a media interview from the BBC Chairman that covered future funding. For the reasons stated below, this petition asks that the Government should rule this out.

1. We think this would create complexities that requiring major legislative and bureaucratic overhaul and higher administrative costs. 2. We believe it could erode consumer choice, forcing payment regardless of usage. 3. We think it would disproportionately burden those on low or fixed incomes, especially those already struggling to pay C.T, and risk penalising everyone while ignoring media consumption or ability to pay.
