We would like the government to mandate that in Scotland, fully bilingual driving licences and vehicle registration certificates be provided in Gaelic and English or Scots and English, as per the applicant's preferences.
Driving licences and vehicle registration certificates issued in Wales are fully bilingual in Welsh/English. The Scottish Parliament has voted to establish Scottish Gaelic and Scots as official languages of Scotland. As such, we think the DVLA should issue fully bilingual licences in these languages in Scotland and accord them parity with their approach to the languages of Wales and England.
