We call for the introduction of a mandatory minimum sentence of 30years for murder & manslaughter cases where a knife or sharp object was used. We want knife crime laws changed with tougher sentencing for crimes of murder & manslaughter involving knives and sharp objects.
I lost my son to knife crime in 2019. We think current sentences are not sufficient enough to deter violent crimes involving knives. We believe a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years for all murder & manslaughter cases where a knife was used, including in cases where the perpetrator is under 18 years of age, would act as a stronger deterrent.
