Require the establishment of a voting system within Police Constabularies that allows police officers and police staff to vote on who their next Chief Constable will be.
We believe that establishing a democratic system for electing people to the role of chief constable will help ensure chief constables and senior management within policing are held to account not only by the public but by the officers and staff who work for them. The aim of this proposal is to help reduce any divide between senior management and police officers and to help create a senior management team that police officers and staff alike can trust while they conduct their duties.
