We call on the UK Government to make it mandatory for all delivery drivers—including those working for gig economy platforms—to undergo at least a Basic DBS check. We believe this would help to prevent exploitation and protect public safety.
We call on the UK Government to make it mandatory for all delivery drivers—including those working for gig economy platforms—to undergo at least a Basic DBS check. We are concerned that vulnerable people, including elderly, women, and disabled individuals, open their doors daily to strangers delivering food or parcels. It may then be possible for the driver to enter their homes. Most other drivers are required to have DBS checks; we believe the same should apply to delivery workers.
