We urge government to ban UK insurers from underwriting or reinsuring Russian-owned/Russian-flagged ships.

We urge the UK Government to lead by example and ensure that its financial and insurance sectors do not insure Russian vessels. We think strong enforcement and closing of legal loopholes are essential to uphold the rule of law and support our international commitments. We think failure to do so not only weakens the effectiveness of the sanctions regime but also damages the UK's international credibility and moral standing.
