Milestones

We urge the government to ban plastic coat hangers. These single-use pollutants can harm the environment, fill landfills, and endanger wildlife. Promote sustainable alternatives like wood/metal.

We think this would be a vital step for a greener future, protecting our planet from persistent plastic waste for a healthier Earth. Millions of hangers annually become non-recyclable waste and they can end up in landfills and polluting oceans for centuries, releasing toxins. They can also directly harm wildlife through entanglement and ingestion. Current recycling systems largely reject them, making disposal problematic. We believe that transitioning to sustainable alternatives like wood, metal, or recycled plastic, alongside robust reuse schemes, is crucial. We think a ban would demonstrate vital leadership in combating plastic pollution, protecting ecosystems, and fostering a circular economy, safeguarding our planet for future generations.
