We urge the Government to officially recognise and fund commemorations for 4 September 2025 to celebrate the 1,100th anniversary of the coronation of King Athelstan in 925AD — the first King of a unified England. We believe this is a pivotal moment in British history and deserves commemoration.
We urge the Government to: • Fund commemorative events and educational activities across England. • Fund a permanent statute of King Athelstan to honour this foundational moment in English history. We believe this is a rare opportunity to celebrate the unity and origins of England as a nation — rooted in culture, continuity, and Royal Patronage.
